God doesn't give children with special needs to strong people; He gives children with special needs to ordinary, weak people and then gives them strength. Raising a child with special needs doesn't take a special family, it makes a special family.

This was our first snow that was enough to talk about really. We got about 8 inches I guess. This was also Madelynn's first time playing in the snow. And because I'm a slacker she has no snow pants, no boots, and no heavy winter coat appropriate for playing in the snow. So we layered and made do with Brenden's coat from his first winter.
When you don't have hills behind your house, make your own! Jonathan shoveled all the snow from the driveway to make a small hill for the kids....just enough for them to sled down! Madelynn LOVED it, as did Brenden. Luckily, our snow play only lasted about 20 minutes...
Love her smile :)

I realized that we haven't formally introduced the newest member of our household! We decided it was time to get the kids a kitten. When I agreed, I imagined a tiny, playful little kitten. But I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find little kittens! We visited several local shelters, with no luck. Some of them required so many visitations, background checks, etc. to even allow you to be considered for adopting a pet. A few weeks ago I checked our local newspaper and there was an ad for 5 month old kittens that were spayed/neutered and had all their shots....and the best part was they were FREE!! The gentleman was so kind when we went to pick the kitten up. We let Brenden name him....so this is Cookie. It took a few days for him to warm up to us, and for Brenden to warm up to him. Madelynn on the other hand is fearless and pets (or hits) him whenever she gets the chance. Cookie is finally adjusted :)

Please continue to lift Brenden up in prayer. In just over a month we go for his MRI to see what's going on with the cyst on his spine. We are trusting in God for complete healing
