The kids are napping, the windows are open, and I'm enjoying a few quiet moments before heading to the park!
It seems that Brenden is very well adjusted to preschool, which took no time at all! I mentioned in the last post that pickup and drop off had been causing me much anxiety because I was one person, trying to get both kids to and from the car....problem, solved! They come out and get him in the mornings so I don't have to get Madelynn out of the car....I just have to wait for all the buses to pull out before I can pull up. We made the mistake once of getting in between two buses, and let me tell you, we won't do it again! The bus drivers have their routine and you better not mess with it! There are only about 2 days a week that I have to pick Brenden up by myself with Madelynn, so those two days his aide or teacher bring him out to the car, again, after all the buses leave. So. Much. Easier.

Earlier this week when I picked him up, the teacher walked out with me. She told me that Brenden has made SO many friends and that the other kids argue over who gets to play with him. He makes sure to give all the kids high five at the end of the day. And apparently he has made friends from many of the other classes as well, not only kids, but other aides and teachers. Yesterday, Jonathan's dad picked him up and when he walked into the classroom, the kids were just finishing up circle time. The majority of the kids ride a bus, so as they all got up and ready to leave, they all ran over to tell Brenden good bye. And today, Ms. Aimee, one of the aides, told me that Brenden is so delightful. I'm not saying all this to say, "Hey! My kid is awesome!" But because I was so worried about all this....I worried that kids would make fun of him or not want to play with him or whatever, but it's just the opposite! I'm sure part of it is because Brenden is still the new kid, but regardless, he's having fun and enjoying the other kids.

He is getting much better using his walker and wants to use it all the time. His new favorite thing to do is go out in the kitchen and take all the silverware and utensils out of the drawers and lay them up on the counter. Between him and Madelynn, I certainly have my hands full! Madelynn is becoming quite the little terror, but uses her cuteness to get out of trouble! She does not listen. Ever. We tell her not to do something and she just looks at us and flashes the biggest smile ever and goes right back to doing what she's not supposed to. I was in the Christian bookstore this morning to look at stuff for Bible school and let's just say I left without what I needed because she was running all over pulling stuff off shelves. But I don't take it for granted. I scooped her up and hauled her to the car, both of us lauging all the way.

Caleb is famous at his school too. EVERYONE knows Caleb. We were at the park today and this random kid came up to Caleb and said "Hey, I know you, you go to my school." This sort of thing happens all the time. I'm so glad he is transitioning well...and you too! :)
Just a comment from my special ed teacher perspective......... I see so often that kids of all kinds of disabilities blossom from being in an inclusion setting with their peers! So often the parents of even the older kids are worried when his/her child is in the class with non-disabled peers on the first few days. But it really "raises the bar" for the kids and amazing things happen! You've seen just a glimpse in a week of what Brenden is going to get from this preschool!
I'm so excited to read your story! It brought me to tears of joy from the teacher perspective. I usually don't hear the parents side true feelings- other than in the IEP meetings and that isn't always real and is so much more formal!

Who wouldn't want to be around that sweet child. He just draws you to him. God is good !!!! You both are blessed with sweet, beautiful children
